Please. Polyethylene does not outgas. You're confusing it with
plasticized vinyl fabrics.
I dunno, do manufacturers add *nothing* to the poly to improve its
characteristics? I work in a plant that makes PET film, and we add a
few things to the recipe to improve certain functions (proprietary
stuff, but "stuff" nonetheless).
You worried about your water bottles, too?
Well, certain Nalgene water bottles have been implicated in leaching
out BPA - possibly damaging the health of untold numbers of yuppies.
My "water bottles", when I use them, are made of stainless steel.
Possible chromium poisoning? <g>
Anyway, the previously referenced Micscape article is what I was
looking for. A breathable protectant seems the best course to take,
especially in the somewhat humid southern climate here.
