Well, certain Nalgene water bottles have been implicated in leaching
out BPA - possibly damaging the health of untold numbers of yuppies.
It certainly stoked their anxieties, whether or not their physical health
was in the least affected. But those bottles (polycarbonate, I believe)
have nothing to do with polyethylene, despite Nalgene's production of
polyethylene labware products like the familiar wash bottles, which are
more or less the throwaways they hand out at the convenience stores. Call
it "laboratory chic".
