Nikon offers condensers that support a number of illumination systems
(Phase, DIC, Darkfield) simply by having different annuluses slotted
into the universal turret they provide. Was this kind of condenser
only made available in infinity-corrected systems, or did Zeiss or
Leitz ever produce these condensers for 160/170mm microscopes?
That kind of condenser was and is made by every one. There were and
are phase condensers, Type I and Type II DIC condensers with phase and
DF systems built by every one. I've never met anyone, by the way,
that actually uses the DF.
